The Greatest Funeral Ever

If you are looking for some really good original music, I suggest finding "The Greatest Funeral Ever." This band is a great demonstration of what can be accomplished and sold with a little creativity. Being purely instrumental, they aren't looking to tell you what they want to express. They get their feeling across loud and clear with just their manipulation and compilation of a drum set, keyboard, bass and guitar.

Their sound can appeal to anyone who loves Latin dance music, jazz and good ol' rock-n-roll. All three genres are fused together creating a rhythm you can swing your hips, tap your foot or become a bobble head icon at the bar to. What you'll find with "The Greatest Funeral Ever" is a stage presence that is dark and alluring with their black attire and energy that flows from one instrument to the next. These guys let the music take front stage at their shows.

You'll also notice how smoothly the songs will flow from one style to the next. The band may open the show with a Latin groove, warming the crowd up with some high energy riffs and low lying, deep hitting bass/drum rhythms. Then they may move to jazz melted on top of a bit of rock salsa mixing harmonic guitar undertones with some crazy key action by the keyboardist.

Being the child of a bass player, I'm naturally inclined to feel out the rhythm section of any performance. Often you will find a bass player holding down a nice beat with a few simple chords but not with "The Greatest Funeral Ever." They give their bassist a range of chords to play with which fills the whole performance up to the brim with internal vibrations from the mesh of a drum line and constant flare from the bass.

Obviously talented musicians, the band overall pulls together purely original sounds from three styles of music I personally haven't heard blended so well before. As for criticism, they were fairly tight with only a slight edge missing to sharpen the instruments individuality. It may have just been the night. They let the music speak for them, the spirit move them and the talent guide them. All I might suggest is mentioning who they are a bit more between songs/sets and sharpening that edge to create a truly smokin, clean groove.

I know I'll be seeing them out again. Hope to see you there too!
