Like
an 8 ball of cocaine!!!
Holy Christ what a busy last few days this has been. Meetings,
phone calls, emails, My Space, you name it, they all have
been sucking me dry. But that’s a good thing, because
I LIKE IT!!!
I love putting shows together and the 2006
Central PA Music Awards Ceremony is going to be a blast!!!
This should be the best show we have ever done. Think of it
as a good Twisted Tuesday show on an 8 ball of cocaine!!!
I’d like to thank Jersey Mike and ABC for allowing us
the opportunity to do the show at their venue on Nov. 16th.
We have assembled a killer line up of live bands playing the
event, representing all genres of music. True to HBGOnline
form, this will be a who’s who gathering of local musicians
and industry people gathered under on roof. Add in the fans
of local music that will be there and this baby will be an
event you don’t want to miss.
You know what, that’s exactly what I wanted. A show
that will have people talking for weeks and months after it’s
over. This area is long over due for a ceremony of this type.
To often I see top notch bands give everything they have on
stage only to be rewarded with a “Great Set” comment
and a pat on the back. The time has come to recognize those
that excel in what they do and to further expand Joe 6 pack’s
knowledge with what is available on any given weekend at a
venue near you. We just started the show promotions over the
weekend and already over 30 advance tickets have been sold.
So that’s a great start in what we hope is a sold out
show on Nov. 16th. I can’t stress enough!!! If you’re
a fan of local music and are coming to the show, get
your tickets in advance, via online or at the venue.
I would like to give a special thanks to Single Girl for
helping me put this show together. She is focusing on the
people part, while I’m able to focus on the production/promotional
end of things. Everyone loves Single Girl, so it’s a
perfect situation. Bands make sure to check you’re My
Space email and be on the lookout for an email from Summer.
You have until Nov. 11th to reply.

Speaking of giving thanks, a HUGE thank you to Dan of
Net Guruz. My computer was all fucked up and giving me
all kinds of problems. In about 2 days, Net
Guruz had it fixed. Now everything is working fine and
the best thing is I didn’t lose any of my porn!!! Seriously,
I’m not sure if they do much in personal computers,
but if you’re having problems at least send
Dan an email to see if he can help. If you have a business
loaded with computers, you definitely better get in contact
with Net
Guruz!!!!
About two years ago I was at Grinder’s and saw a band
called Love Stomp. It was the worst cover band I have ever
seen. So guess how surprised I was to hear people telling
me to check out the Amy K Band. These were from people I respect
with their opinions too. In case you didn’t know, Amy
was the lead vocals for Love Stomp. Well curiosity killed
the cat and I recently had the pleasure of seeing Amy’s
new band, Halloween night, at the West Shore Hardware Bar.
Although the Amy K Band has only been around for a few months,
they are in the Hardware Bars rotation. Not an easy thing
to do. I must say I was impressed. Great song selections and
this time Amy is surrounded by some good musicians. I saw
a few minor things that could be improved upon, but for only
being together a few months, I would have to give them a two
thumbs up. Mark my words, it won’t be long until the
Amy K Band moves up to the ranks of a Something Fluid or Screamin
Daisy’s, the area’s other female fronted powerhouses.
I guess that just goes to prove, you’re only as good
as the people that are around you. So be sure to give the
Amy K Band a listen, if you’re looking for a new cover
band to see.
Be on the lookout for some major news in the coming weeks.
A local venue in the Harrisburg area is changing it’s
live entertainment to an all original band line up in 2007.
This is another step forward to an increasing build up of
local original music in the area. Not many venues have an
all original schedule, so I hope the change will be supported
by those in the industry. Plus it’s a cool place that
I frequent quite often. HBGOnline has offered to help in any
way, to make the switch a successful one.
Well that’s all for now, I need to back to my promotional
whore duties. I wanted to say some things about the new West
Shore Hardware Bar, but I’ll save them for next time.
Don’t forget to order your tickets for the 2006
Central PA Music Awards Ceremony, Nov. 16th hosted by
ABC!!!!
