The
Return of Twisted Tuesdays!!!
Greetings sports fans!!! I finally have a few minutes so
I’d wanted to get some words down.
Spring is finally here and that only means one thing to me.
The return of Twisted Tuesdays!!! Yes we kick off April 3rd
with Serving the Industry and Lotus Blue. This will be the
Serving the Industry’s debut TT show. Check out www.hbgonline.com/hardwarebar
for the April schedule.
It’s heard to believe this will be our 5th year of
Twisted Tuesdays at the Hardware Bar. I can still remember
my first meeting with Ron, like it was yesterday. See the
bar tried a Tuesday Night with original music and it flopped.
I’m not sure who was setting it up, but the night usually
involved having Negative Space or Emily’s Toybox with
an opener. I like both those bands but if you see them 1 week,
there’s not much that will change the next week or 3rd
week, etc. It was also almost impossible to know who the openers
where too. So I got the call to meet with Ron. I took Single
Girl along and we had a very productive meeting. I’m
guessing the bar thought what the hell give him a chance and
if it doesn’t work we can just pull it. Two months later
the first Twisted Tuesday show happened with a pretty good
size crowd and now we are entering into our 5th year. I appreciate
the opportunity we have been given by the Hardware Bar to
feature some of the best local and regional bands.
I think more bands should look at the Twisted Tuesday shows
and take notes. I like to mix things up. I’ll put a
jam band with a pop band. A pop band with a harder band and
so on. Why? One, because I can’t stand to be at show
when all the bands playing sound alike. Two, because I’ll
get two different crowds.
This year I’ll be giving more “rookie”
bands a shot to play. If they pull a crowd, they’ll
be added into the rotation. Serving the Industry, Collosal
Oz, The Lookies, Pistola Amore, Safari so Good, Drama Club,
Betty’s Bones and Solar Staredown are just a few on
my short list to get into shows.
I also would like to bring back some of the bands that played
Twisted Tuesday over the years, but not lately. Bands like
Martini Bros., Emily’s Toybox, BAAB, The Underwater,
etc.
So this, our 5th year of Twisted Tuesdays, should be an awesome
display of musical talent. Help spread the word and be sure
to check out a few shows!!! The cover is only $3.00 and once
again the night will feature $1.00 PBR’s till 10pm.
We start the first band at 10pm and try and wrap things up
by 11:30pm. So plenty of time to have a great time, network
and still get home for some sleep.
I would like to apologize for the sporadic site updates lately.
March – May is pure hell at the day job. When you’re
working 60+ hours, most of which is driving, added to the
increasing stress they place upon you for numbers, you’re
pretty much beat when you get home. Add in my newest web venture
of Help You Sell Stuff.com www.helpyousellstuff.com
that has sold over $2,500 dollars for people in the last 60
days and the chance to spend a few hours on updates is very
limited. I’m trying to work out a schedule that will
allow me to focus on certain items each night, so things get
done more efficiently. So bare with us and soon we’ll
be back to normal.
I would like to end with a short plug for the Help You Sell
Stuff venture. Did you know that most people have about $2,000
worth of “stuff” just lying around the house?
Older digital/video cameras, cell phones, computers and other
electronics to name a few. How about those DVD’s, videos
and CD’s you don’t watch or listen to anymore?
Maybe there’s treasure in all those boxes in the attic
or closet? I think my best sale was a phone system from one
of my day job customers that was just sitting there waiting
for an email so they could throw it in the dumpster. They
got the email, I listed the phones and the “dumpster”
phones sold for $405.00!!!
What we do is come and pick up the items, take the photos
and list for sale on eBay. When it’s sold, we ship it
and then give you a check. It’s that easy and over the
last few weeks, I’ve put many smiles on people’s
faces when they get a bunch of money for “stuff”
that was just lying around the house. So look around and even
if it’s one or two items you’d like to try at
first, give me a call (649-1330) or email,
and I’ll do my best to get you the most money for the
items.
OK that’s enough for now, hope to see some new faces
this year at Twisted Tuesday, Where the beers are cheap, the
music is great and the girls are easy!!!
