If you’re looking for a place to have lunch, dinner,
or just a few drinks, Flinchy’s offers an atmosphere
suitable for any occasion.
I like Flinchy’s for a few different reasons: Lunch,
dinner and drinks. I can say each time I’ve been there,
the food was very good, fairly priced, and served by competent
staff. Living in Lemoyne limits one’s options for consuming
alcohol since the borough is a “dry” town. There
are no bars within the borough limits and no alcohol is served
at any of the restaurants. However, there is a liquor store
and beer distributor-places where alcohol cannot be consumed
on premise. Just over the border from Lemoyne, Flinchy’s
is a short drive or walk (or stagger) from my house. Whenever
I feel the need to imbibe some booze along with my meal or
to just enjoy a few cocktails, this is one convenient spot
to which I travel.
My most recent visit was a lunch meeting with a friend. The
place was busy, but a table was available for us immediately
upon arrival. The lunch menu is considerably smaller than
the dinner menu, but the choices are still good. This day,
I had a cup of chili and a Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak while
my friend had a bowl of Lobster Bisque and a Grilled Monto
Cristo. (I believe Flinchy’s chili to be one of the
best in area and order it whenever available.) Our sandwiches
were served with potato chips and a pickle wedge and were
a good size, certainly sufficient for lunch. The meal was
satisfying, priced fairly, and best of all, my friend picked
up the tab!
The last dinner at Flinchy’s, my date and I started
off with a White Chocolate Martini and Chocolate Martini.
Both were very tasty, strong, and priced at $7.50 each. Our
server also brought a small loaf of warm homemade bread along
with a sweet butter. The bread was delicious and the sweet
butter made it even better. Next, came our green leaf salads
dressed with a Balsamic Vinaigrette and Mango Vinaigrette,
both of which were flavorful, but not too overpowering. I
also had to have a cup of chili, (which I really didn’t
need, but wanted a little taste of my favorite), followed
by our entrées of Mediterranean Chicken and Vegetable
Linguini. The meal portions were huge and satisfying, but
not excellent. I have no specific complaints about the food,
other than it not being great food, just good. I also felt
that $20 for a chicken entrée was a little steep, but
as mentioned before, the individual portions would have been
sufficient for two people.
While our meals were somewhat enjoyable, the atmosphere was
more bar-like than a cozy dinner-for-two kind of restaurant.
Between the noise, loud TV, and thick cigar/cigarette smoke,
the mood was lost. If you’re looking for a quiet, romantic
place for dinner, Flinchy’s probably isn’t the
right place. I don’t mean to be too picky, but the bar
can certainly have an effect on your meal. Since I do frequent
the place and know what to expect, I just don’t make
this my preferred spot for a quiet dinner date.
In nicer weather, the party moves outside to Flinchy’s
large deck. I recommend checking out this nice open-air space
once the weather warms up and people are ready for some out
of doors eating and drinking. Check the website or call for
updates about the deck and weekly entertainment. Flinchy’s
really heats up in the summer and is an alleged good hook-up
joint on certain nights.
In conclusion, going to Flinchy’s and knowing what
to expect is the first step in getting a satisfying lunch
or dinner experience. It’s also a great place for drinks
and bar food. I recommend checking it out for yourself to
see if Flinchy’s is right for you.
