Bringing distinctive cuisine and an upscale atmosphere to
New Cumberland, Scott’s Grille - Old Towne Mediterranean
fuses flavors from around the world creating menu selections
sure to fancy your gastronomic pleasures.
A warm fireplace is always a welcome sight on a cold winter
night. So when seated for dinner, I expected our food and
drinks would bring us a satisfying dining experience. I ordered
a chocolate martini (which was great) while my girlfriend
had a glass of white zinfandel. We discussed our entrée
selections and observed numerous pieces of artwork around
the dining room, all available for purchase. The restaurant’s
floor was brick and the walls appeared to be very old wood
paneling that was painted over with soothing color choices.
I’m still unsure what the building housed prior to its
current incarnation and would be interested in finding out
a bit more of its history. Overall, the restaurant had a good
vibe and was furnished in a distinctive and tasteful manner.
The waitress took our orders of NY Strip (cooked well) and
Chicken Marsala with house salad and Caesar salad, respectively.
I also ordered a bowl of French Onion Soup because its description
(containing sherry) sounded good and due to the chill I felt
from cold weather. Minutes later, the waitress delivered our
salads along with a basket of warm bread. She poured flavored
olive oil on a plate for dipping and offered us chilled salad
forks. This thoughtful measure added a nice touch early in
our dining experience. The salads, topped with scrumptious
croutons and Caesar and House dressings were very good.
After finishing our drinks and salads we were definitely
ready to eat, and our dinners arrived a short time later.
My marsala came with a side of pasta, vegetable medley, and
garlic mashed potatoes. The NY strip was a very large cut
of beef served with veggies and mashed potatoes as well. My
entrée portion was generous and done perfectly while
the side items too, were excellent. My girlfriend’s
steak was good, however it was not well done all the way though.
In fact, one half of the thick slab was only cooked medium.
However, since the cut was so large, by the time she began
cutting into the undercooked portion, she had already eaten
enough.
Another slight problem with our dinner was that the waitress
forgot my soup. She probably could have been a bit more attentive
after she dropped off our salads because we only saw her again
when she delivered the entrées. I’m not usually
harsh on servers, so I will not lay too much blame on her.
Mistakes do happen and to make up for it the manager not only
gave me half off my entrée, we were not charged for
the tiramisu we ordered to take home. The dessert was excellent
and left me with a sweet reminder of a very pleasant evening
in a relaxed atmosphere.
Despite minor deficiencies in food preparation and service,
Scott’s was a very satisfying experience and good value.
The attractive menu makes me want to give a few more entrée
selections a try, so another visit will definitely be an upcoming
event on my dining calendar.
