Offering the best of sandwiches, gourmet pizza, and mouthwatering
dinners, Garrason’s Tavern makes no compromise on quality
or variety.
On many occasions I have visited Garrason’s Tavern
for either a quick bite or large sit-down meal. The atmosphere
can be both like a bar or restaurant, depending on your seating
location and/or mood. There is bar and dining room seating
downstairs with additional tables upstairs, and weather permitting,
outside on the terrace above. The downstairs can be smoky
and loud due to the proximity of the bar while the upstairs
provides a quieter and more secluded environment.
The bar features a very large selection of imported and microbrew
beers, both in bottles and on-tap sure to satisfy your thirst
for something other than the ordinary. Wines are also available
as a fine accompaniment to your meal; just ask your server.
Since I consider myself somewhat of a regular, I rarely order
any appetizers knowing that the fresh dinner rolls, salad,
and entrée will fill me entirely. (Speaking of salad,
the Tavern Dressing {Honey Sesame Vinaigrette} is one of the
best I have ever tasted. Bottles are available for sale to
take home). On the few occasions that individuals at our table
have ordered appetizers, the Artichoke Crab Melt ($9.50) is
a huge hit as well as the BBQ Shrimp ($10.00). If I’m
in the mood for a sandwich instead of a dinner, the Collins
Special ($8.50), Tenderloin Tip ($11.00), and Crab Cakes (Market
Price) are very good choices.
When ordering dinner, the all-time favorite has to be the
Tavern Filet ($22.00). This is by far one of the best filet
mignons I have ever tasted, served in an herb butter red wine
sauce with mushrooms. It is usually accompanied by two standard
side dishes: garlic mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley.
The steak practically melts in your mouth and leaves you wanting
more. If I’m in the mood for a slightly different cut
and flavor of beef, I also like the Garrason Steak ($23.00)
which is a New York Strip in a Carbaugh sauce. Other excellent
selections I recommend are Veal Garrason ($20.50), Seafood
Scampi ($20.00), or any of the specialty Pizzas ($7.50-$8.50).
At Garrason’s Tavern, there are so many good selections
from which to choose, you simply cannot go wrong. I highly
recommend this fine establishment for any dining occasion.
