Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the April 29 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

Thanks to our guest via phone this week, Pittsburgh rock’n’roll icon Norman Nardini (http://www.normannardini.com)! The “Manful Handful” updated us on his latest career happenings, previewed his upcoming visit to Cresson’s Blue Moon Saloon, and introduced songs from his latest studio album, Bone A Fide. Along the way, we updated “Local Music News,” dug a 2000 song by late Pittsburgh guitar great Glenn Pavone from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and reviewed Charlie Bush’s Made 2B Played CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

ZUPE & NICHOLS – “A Dash of Dementia”
SHIFT SEVEN – “It Was Strange”
NORMAN NARDINI – “End of the Line”
THE HAWKS BLUES BAND – “Born Under a Bad Sign” (live)
NORMAN NARDINI – “Graceland”
NATE MYERS & THE ACES – “On My Own”
NORMAN NARDINI – “Work Like a Dog”

HOUR TWO:

FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Travelers Not Forgotten”
NORMAN NARDINI – “We Come a Long Way”
CHARLIE BUSH – “9-11 Ride”
NORMAN NARDINI – “Son of a Gun”
THE CYCLONES (GLENN PAVONE) – “Shake That Thing” (2000, Local Music Flashback)
NORMAN NARDINI – “I Seen Too Much”

On our next show, we welcome back Dan Klock, this time spotlighting his recently resurrected solo acoustic project, Raggedy Hobo! Dan will introduce Raggedy Hobo and explain how it differs from his full band endeavor Mysterytrain, and we’ll hear recorded live footage from both Raggedy Hobo and Mysterytrain! We will also update “Local Music News,” dig into the archive for another “Local Music Flashback,” and review Emmett and Mary’s S/T CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Dan Klock, “Raggedy Hobo,” chats with us on the “Homegrown Rocker” next Sunday night!

Upcoming guests and specials include:

MAY 13 – COVER SONG SPECIAL
MAY 20 – RICH EDMUNDSON
MAY 27 – MEMORIAL DAY SPECIAL
JUNE 3 – JEFF PITTINGER
JUNE 10 – RON GALLUCCI
JUNE 17 – FATHER’S DAY SPECIAL
JUNE 24 – SETH CONNER
JULY 8 – THE WHATLEYS

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on "The Homegrown Rocker" are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: WRKY Radio, One Forever Drive, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648; ATTN: Jim Price. Or drop the recordings off at the station during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9 AM – 5 PM. You can also email me with inquiries about the show at profjp@rocky1049.com

In Local Music News…

In a surprise development, one of northeast Pennsylvania’s most prominent modern rock acts, Absolution, suddenly parted ways this past week, citing differences in musical direction. We’ll keep an eye open for any future projects that might rise from the ashes.

Bassist Jim Ricotta has parted ways with Altoona-based classic rockers Ambush. The group has announced that Jim Novak will take over bass duties.

And Harrisburg blues favorites Nate Myers & the Aces will again spotlight hot blues harp next Saturday night when they present the 8th annual Harpapalooza benefit, taking place at Harrisburg’s Appalachian Brewing Company. Hosted by Myers himself, Harpapalooza will feature performances by his own band, as well as harp players Steve Guyger, Dennis Gruenling, Dane Paul Russell and Octavia. Donation is $10, and proceeds benefit the American Diabetes Association.
