Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 19
do every year, the annual Memorial Day Special! We will again take a
trip down local music Memory Lane, digging songs from the archive from
past area bands and artists, some dating as far back as the 1960s!
During the show’s final half hour, we will pay homage to some of the
area musicians we have lost through the years. We usually have
interesting surprises every year, so listen to find out what we blow the
dust and rust from this year! This is a keeper, listen for the Memorial
Day Special, and download it from the Rocky websites afterward!

And
the “Homegrown Rocker” is available for digital download off either
Rocky website after each and every show. Just check on either (http://www.rocky1049.com) or (http://www.rocky99.com)
range of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99, you can now download west-central
AED, Rodger Delany, Xander Demos, Tommy Ukulele, Skarma Sutra, Inside

In Local Music News…

In Local Music News…

Recent
news events regarding the Vatican have impacted Altoona area pop-punk
rockers The Hope Fallacy. New Pope Francis has selected the group to be
the first official rock band of the Catholic Church. A name change is in
order, the group will change their handle to The Pope Fallacy, and will
perform at selected Vatican events.

In a surprise development,
bassist Kent Tonkin has announced that he will step away from his
original rock band project, Lies Inc., to devote time toward his
lifelong tribute band project dream. Kent is assembling musicians to
back him in his new tribute to singer Michael McDonald. The name of the
new project will be Yah-mo.

And in a statement made this past
week, Boston guitarist and mastermind Tom Scholz said that he wishes
that Inside Out mastermind Tim Frick would “just get that darned third
CD done.” Scholz was referring to Inside Out’s Unbreakable CD, which still has to be officially released some 17 years after the group’s official last recording, Seasons,
in 1996. Scholz said he won’t even consider putting out any new Boston
material until the new Inside Out disc is released, saying that he
intends to hold onto the record for album release procrastination until
hell freezes over.

APRIL FOOL!!!!!!!!!!

And now, the REAL Local Music News…

In
band personnel moves, 7th Gear introduces a new frontlady to replace
Michelle Galo. Former Silver Sunday and Splink lead singer Ashley
Thompson is joining the group, and will sing lead alongside guitarist
Brendon Burns. The group has done some warm-up performances with their
new singer in recent weeks at Pellegrine’s.

The Rik Golden Band
has a new bass player, as former Choking Faith bassman Steve Seymore has
joined their ranks. Steve and the Rik Golden Band opened for Izzy and
the Catastrophics this past Friday night at Aldo’s.

And a
benefit show in memory of a friend of the music scene who recently
passed away will take place next Sunday night at 30 Something in
Altoona. The Chuck Detwiler Memorial Benefit will kick off at 6 p.m.,
with proceeds going toward a memorial fund in Chuck’s name. Bands
donating their talents at the benefit include the Backyard Rockers, The
Sitch, Deadbeat Stew and Up Your Arsenal.

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 10 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's
weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every
Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (http://www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (http://www.rocky99.com).

Originally, we were to have band guests on this week’s program. But
last-minute complications prevented Brand New Wings from joining us this
week, and we will reschedule their appearance for later in the year. In
lieu of in-studio guests, we instead used the opportunity to empty the
“Homegrown Rocker” mailboxes and check out new local and regional
recordings that have arrived in recent weeks. We debuted new songs from
Kenny Murdick, Nitro, Fatality Risen, The Hawks Blues Band, Paragon. A
Fine Mess, Ragdoll Physics and Blood Union. We also updated “Local Music
News,” dug a 1999 song by Johnstown’s Ozone from the archive for this
week’s “Local Music Flashback,” stepped “Across State Lines” to hear

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 3 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's
weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every
Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (http://www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (http://www.rocky99.com).

During the 17th annual Millennium Music Conference last month, the
“Homegrown Rocker” invited showcasing bands and musicians at the
conference to submit their recordings into a special drop box at the
trade show. At the close of the business portion of the conference and
trade show, we randomly selected one of the recordings, and the band or
artist who submitted that recording won an instant guest appearance on
this week’s show! The winners were Brooklyn, New York-based band project
Spice Hound Music Co. (http://spicehoundmusicco.bandcamp.com/).
During this week’s show, we spoke via phone with David Askaryan and
Zach Hopper about Spice Hound Music Co., and learned about the project,
its origins, and its music. We featured songs from their CD, The Revival,
and one lucky listener called in to win her own copy! Along the way, we
debuted new songs from Nobody’s Heroes, Mileunder, The Late Ancients,
The Great Socio, Inside Out and Ground Resonance. We also updated “Local
Music News,” and reviewed Dani Hoy’s TropiGal
CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” And for this week’s “Local Music
Flashback,” we played “Bracing” by Edison, from their 1997 CD Picture Postcard
– the first song played when this program debuted on a now-defunct
Altoona radio station 15 years ago this week! Yes, this week marks the
“Homegrown Rocker’s” 15th anniversary on air!

Here is this week's playlist:

On our next program, we welcome a new area band into the studio. Brand
Girls. We will meet the members, find out what they bring to live
stages, and hopefully hear some recorded music from this new project! We
will again update “Local Music News,” dig another song by a past band
or artist from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and review
Ninetail’s The Vultures Are Circling CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Brand New Wings makes their brand new debut on the “Homegrown Rocker” next Sunday night!

area stages in the late 1980s – will reunite onstage on Saturday, April
13 at Pellegrine’s as part of this year’s concert, held in memory of
popular Altoona area guitarist Jeff Wallack, and raising money for a
