This battle of the bands was the most disorganized joke I have ever seen. The voting is to be done on their website after the fact and the streaming video you are supposed to use as a reference is piss poor to say the least. The audio is, well, inaudible. All you hear is phase issues which make it impossible to truly get anything out of it. That is just the surface issues. The disorganization comes in when my band has all of our gear set up and ready to start a half an hour before the P.A. even shows up. We started 15 minutes late and the regular customers at Shane’s didn’t seem to be entertained by that. We stood there watching this all unfold while shaking our heads. Then comes our video performance. It was supposed to be streamed live but, alas, it wasn’t. The best part of this whole situation was that they recorded us from behind all of the gear. You get to see my ass quite a bit and you can’t hear vocals because the mains were in the opposite direction of the camera. The thought was nice, the prizes seem to be cool, but come on already. I would not be surprised if the studio time was in their garage. This truly was an epic fail on so many levels. I give them mad props for attempting to do something like this, but as a professional musician with quite a bit of success booking, they bit off way more than they could chew.

Scotty funny you should mention this. I have an “On My Mind” article in the works that you should relate to. Keep your head up, you guys rock!!!! Hopefully soon we can hook up with a gig and you can play with the big boyz once again!!!

The thing you gotta remember about these “Battle of the Bands” gigs is that they are set up to increase business at the club that is holding it. They dont care about you or the band, they are more interested in getting a crowd in to sell food and drinks.

Well TTM_Bass,

The funny thing is this was put on by a “legitimate” entertainment company called RUHungry Entertainment that holds events all over. Shane’s just happened to allow them to use the venue. While in most cases you are 100% correct, this time is different. They pride themselves in being a top notch full service company. You were supposed to be able to watch it stream live, fail. You were supposed to vote online for your favorite band later that evening, fail. I mean come on, at least the Tourist Inn uses a db meter and let’s you know that night. They didn’t post winners until two weeks later than they were supposed to. Rule #1, have your crap together before you make promises you can’t keep. Rule #2, keep the promises. This was absolutely disgusting and the worst thing I have ever seen. I put on better shows at the YMCA when I was 15.

So did anyone win this battle or is it still in progress?

sconrad September 15, 2010 at 8:15 pm

It was a four week thing with a winner weekly. As of today, only two winners have been posted. Those four are supposed to go head to head. It’s been two weeks since the final battle and no update. Also, only videos of the first week are posted so there was no way to properly vote. It looks as if whoever had enough friends vote took the crown. Viable way to do it, but if we knew how many votes the winner had we would probably laugh. I’m friends with one of the bands we competed against and they won. They had five votes. My band had four.

That’s too funny, one vote bummers there! Oh well, hope you all had fun and made something positive of it!
